Lelis Transmission knows that clean oil keeps your engine running smoothly and minimizes the need for transmission repairs. They are careful to use quality oil and do not usually recommend flushing methods that may be harmful for your vehicle. Oil flushing can remove dirty oil from your transmission before clean oil is added to your engine, but it can often create damage to your transmission that is more costly. When performing oil flushing, some repair shops use a machine to flush out the transmission, but then run their own generic oil through your vehicle before adding the oil that is appropriate for the make and model of the vehicle.

Oil flushing should be done only when your transmission has a serious problem and Lelis does not usually recommend it. If not performed correctly, oil flushing can damage your transmission and make it more costly to repair because oil flushing is done by using a strong pressure to push a cleaning solvent through the narrow pathways of your transmission. If you envision the pathways like a narrow one-way street, they are not designed for dirt and sludge to be pushed the wrong way. When this happens, debris can clog the pathways and make it difficult for the oil to act as a coolant and lubricant for the engine components.

Lelis Transmission in Salt Lake City has had clients with extremely dirty oil that needed to be replaced. Rather than risk damaging the transmission, with high pressured oil flushing, they drained the oil and then diluted the old oil with new oil before returning it to the engine. Lelis drained the oil four times and added new oil each time to the older oil until the transmission gradually contained new oil. This time-consuming method helped save the transmission and was less costly than replacing it.

Lelis Transmission in Salt lake City has been in business over 60 years because we treat your car repairs as if they are our own. If Lelis diagnoses extremely dirty oil that is damaging your transmission, we will try to fix the problem in a way that is economical to your wallet and beneficial for your transmission.

"I had some problems with my transmission and I thought I needed a whole new clutch. It turned out that all I needed was just a transmission flush. They are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I even recommend them to my family which is rare for a mechanic shop because most are as bad as a used car salesman in trying to nickle and dime in every way possible."

"This is an excellent shop! I have taken all of my cars here at one time or another, and the staff has always gone ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure that my needs were met!"
